The University of Basel had the pleasure of welcoming Rector Prof. Dr. Philippe Dubois and a distinguished delegation from the University of Mons (U Mons), accompanied by Ms. Barbara Brooijmans, Science Counselor at the Embassy of Belgium (Wallonie–Bruxelles International).

Following the official welcome and an introduction to the University of Basel by Dr. Tanja Popović,  Head of the International Office, the programme included presentations of selected academic units. Prof. Dr. Heiko Schuldt, Dean of the Faculty of Science, provided insights into the faculty’s profile and strategic priorities, and the Institute for Educational Sciences contributed to the overview of its research and academic activities. Rector Prof. Dr. Philippe Dubois presented the University of Mons, which led to a constructive exchange on potential avenues for collaboration in research, teaching, and international partnerships. This meeting took place during Basel’s Carnival (Fasnacht), offering a vibrant and uniquely local backdrop for international academic dialogue and cooperation.
