SUMMARY:Research Methods in Linguistic Landscape Studies
DESCRIPTION:Inhalt The international workshop led by Durk Gorter and Jas
one Cenoz aims to provide participants with a basic understanding of resea
rch methods employed to investigate linguistic landscapes. Linguistic land
scapes refer to the visible languages in public spaces\, such as signs\, b
illboards\, and graffiti (Gorter & Cenoz\, 2024). We will consider various
research methods and examine theoretical frameworks\, practical technique
s\, and innovative approaches for the study of this phenomenon. By analysi
ng these multilingual and multicultural displays\, researchers gain insigh
ts into language use\, power dynamics\, and social identities. - In
troduction to Linguistic Landscape Studies (LLS) - Understand the conce
pt of linguistic landscapes - Explore the significance of written langu
age in public spaces - Grasp the complexity of language in public space
s Lernziele Participants will leave the workshop with practica

 interpret findings. Literatur Gorter\, D. & Cenoz\, J. (2024).
